Design Awards for the Hansgrohe Group: Confirmation, Compliment, and Incentive
The products of the AXOR and hansgrohe brands have been awarded over 700 internationally renowned design prizes since the first Tri Bel hand shower was awarded in 1974. A collection that belongs to the leading ones in the sanitation industry. For us, the awards are a confirmation and an honor at the same time – and drive us every day to new best performances in terms of outstanding product design.
Red Dot Award, iF Award, German Design Award: They’re all in the trophy cabinet
The AXOR and hansgrohe brands regularly put their faucets, showers, shower systems, accessories, kitchen sinks, sanitary ceramics and bathroom furniture to the test and let them be judged by external design experts. Among the more than 700 international design prizes won since 1974 are awards like the iF GOLD AWARD and the Red Dot: Best of the Best Award.
Such honors confirm our achievements and show that we are on the right track with our design philosophy. Together with our designers, we combine premium product quality with extraordinary product design and optimal customer benefit. That is what makes us successful.
Top placements in the iF World Design Index: Confirmation of our design philosophy
The iF WORLD DESIGN INDEX lists the most successful, internal company design teams, design studios, and design-oriented companies. In the International Forum Design (iF)'s iF WORLD DESIGN INDEX 2019 – 2023, the Hansgrohe Group ranks in the TOP25. This makes us one of the best companies in the world in terms of design and we outperform famous brands such as BMW, Sony or Siemens.
The valuation for the index is made up of the iF AWARD winners from the past five years, depending on the type and number of iF AWARDS won. In 2023 alone, 17 products from the AXOR and hansgrohe brands received an iF DESIGN AWARD 2023. Among the winners were
- the hansgrohe Tecturis faucet line,
- the hansgrohe Pulsify shower family,
- the hansgrohe Xelu washbasin and bathroom furniture as well as
- the AXOR Suite washbasins and bath tub and
- the AXOR Universal Rectangular Accessories.
Distinction of excellence: the iF AWARD in Gold
Special weight is given in the evaluation to the iF GOLD AWARDS. 2023, we received the International Forum Design's gold medal for the AXOR ShowerComposition program. Among more than 11,000 submissions from 56 countries, iF bestowed just 75 "iF GOLD AWARDS" for outstanding design, quality, processing, environmental sustainability, functionality, and innovation.
The jury’s reasoning is yet another confirmation of our design philosophy: “The AXOR ultra-slim shower composition by Hansgrohe comes in a variety of striking finishes. Thanks to its modularity, it opens up numerous possibilities for bathroom design. The switches are highly intuitive and continue the architectonic design theme.”
Red Dot Awards: Coveted seal of quality for product design
The extensive list of design prizes for the Hansgrohe Group includes numerous Red Dot Awards. Once a year, a jury of international judges selects the best products out of around 18,000 annual submissions from over 70 nations for this award. This makes the design award, which has its origins back in 1955, one of the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world. The Red Dot is considered a special seal of quality: Best of the Best – a distinction only the best products in a category receive. Among the award winners of recent years are
Pioneering in the design landscape: The German Design Award
"An award that makes success visible." This is how the German Design Council, founded in 1953 as a foundation on the initiative of the German Bundestag, describes its German Design Award. The German brand and design authority discovers and presents unique design trends, and furthers the design-oriented economy with its competition.
In the 2023 competition, the German Design Award distinguished the hansgrohe Rebris faucet line, developed in collaboration with PHOENIX. “With the new ‘Rebris’ fitting line, hansgrohe remains true to its tradition of a clear, timeless design language. At the same time, the repetition of the rounding on the handle and spout creates a design feature that is as subtle as it is striking, making ‘Rebris’ unmistakable”, reasons the jury.
Numerous awards with the Gold Label of the German Design Council are in the trophy cabinet of our premium brand. In recent years the German Design in Gold went to:
- the hansgrohe faucet line Finoris,
- the hansgrohe RainButton collection,
- the hansgrohe Aquno Select M81 kitchen faucet and
- the hansgrohe RainTunes digital shower experience.
The German Innovation Award for solutions that shape the future and improve life
Our vision “Hansgrohe’s Green Vision Beyond Water: Rethinking Bathroom Culture“ received a high distinction for special innovative strength. In 2023 the German Design Council awarded our vision with the German Innovation Award. The award-winning products offer innovative ways and solutions that stand out above all for their added value for users and the environment.
Hansgrohe's vision separates hygiene and wellbeing, enabling unlimited, virtually waterless regeneration. With 90% less water, 90% less energy – and therefore 90% less CO2e emissions in the bathroom, "Hansgrohe's Green Vision Beyond Water: Rethinking Bathroom Culture" shows what is probably the most sustainable bathroom in the world.
Design awards: A test to put products through their paces
International design awards are seen as an accolade for product designers and manufacturers. Top-class expert juries don't just evaluate products in terms of "good appearance." All factors around a product are decisive for the awarding of design awards such as the Red Dot Award, iF AWARD, and the German Design Award. Of course this includes design quality, but also degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, and durability. Added to that are the symbolic and emotional content, the product periphery, self-explanatory quality, and ecological compatibility.
In short, products are put through their paces in design competitions and evaluated according to criteria that go beyond the apparent design.
